A valid passport is required for all foreign nationals to enter the Democratic Republic of Congo. Visitors must have ready for presentation at the consulate documentary evidence of the purpose of the visit, means of support of the duration of the stay and accommodation arrangements.

All travelers (except diplomats) must submit the following to apply for a visa:

  • The visa application form below printed, completed and signed in blue or black ink.
  • A valid, signed passport with at least two blank pages marked “Visas” side by side and at least six months of validity remaining.
  • A passport-style (2”x2”) photograph taken within the last 6 months with the applicant facing the camera.
  • Copy of flight itinerary showing applicant’s name.
  • International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever.
  • A prepaid mailing envelope for the return of the applicant’s passport (using a service with tracking such as FedEx or UPS).

Business travelers must also include:

  • A company sign letter explaining the purpose of their trip and providing a financial guarantee. The letter must bear the original pen-to-paper signature of a company representative other than the applicant.
  • A letter of invitation from the company or partner to be visited in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The letter must be on company letterhead and signed by a representative of the company, and should include the applicants name and the name, address, and telephone number for a contact person at the overseas company. This letter must be notarized at City Hall in the DRC and either be legalized by the DRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs or submitted with a formal declaration of liability “engagement de prise en charge” issued by the Direction Generale des Migrations (DGM).

Tourist travelers must also include:

  • A letter of invitation from a tourist agency or private host in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This letter must be notarized at City Hall in the DRC and either be legalized by the DRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs or submitted with a formal declaration of liability “engagement de prise en charge” issued by the Direction Generale des Migrations (DGM).

Foreign officials:

  • Please provide a diplomatic note stating detailed purpose and dates of travel.
    Individuals of Congolese descent are not required to present an invitation.
    Please note that all applications submitted to the consulate are reviewed by the DRC immigration services. The issuance of visas, including visa duration and number of entries, is thus at the discretion of the immigration services. Immigration service’s reserve the right to issue or deny visas to any applicant.
